Flu Fighter, Cold Crusher, and All-Around Immune Elixir. Try a shot of this first thing in the morning or before a meal.
This elixir is incredibly immune boosting as most of these ingredients are high in vitamin C, but also high in anti-septic, anti-microbial, and anti-oxidant properties. It is also especially helpful before meals to initiate digestion and help stabilise blood sugar levels.
- Apple cider vinegar is rich in fibre, specifically, pectin which improves blood cholesterol levels as well as a great fibre for our gut microbiome.
- ACV has been used for its immune-boosting qualities for a long time, it even dates back to the Hippocrates era. Lemon juice is helpful to increase bile production, which will encourage the digestion of fats in our diet.
- Lemons are great to have on hand to help with any gas and general indigestion.
During the retreats we serve this elixir to guests as their morena (morning) tonic, alternatively, a couple of teaspoons before a meal period would be suitable.
Morning Elixir Recipe
You will need:
- Citrus squeezer
- Measuring spoon and cups
- Jar
- High-speed blender (suggested)
- Mesh cheesecloth (suggested)
Ingredients:
Makes: 390ml (45ml x 7 days)
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (raw, unpasteurised)
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- Juice of half an orange
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 250ml water (or dilute as much as preferred)
- 1 Tbsp fresh ginger (optional)
Method:
- Place all ingredients in a jar and shake
- Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender, blend for 20 seconds then strain through cheesecloth.
- Enjoy this life-brightening tonic!
- Refrigerate remaining elixir
